The Canon 5D and Canon 17-40 f4 are still a great pairing in 2025. This month’s subject was “fun at the beach”. We decided to go on an evening walk in Cromer. I took a camera as normal. I hadn’t gone to the beach to take this image; it was presented to me.
I could see the colours, the reflection in the wet sand and the setting sun on the horizon. I knelt on one knee on the wet sand (I’m prepared to suffer for my art, you know). I underexposed by 2/3s of a stop and waited to hit the shutter at the appropriate point, which turned out to be at 10.24 PM (20th June 2025).
